Join the dedicated community of high school football referees and make a difference in the game you love. The California Football Officials Association (CFOA) is here to guide you through the process of becoming a certified high school football official.

Find Your Local Affiliated Unit

To start your journey, select the affiliated unit that best fits your location. Each unit provides training, support, and opportunities to officiate games in your area.

  • Channel Coast

    • Serves the coastal areas including Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

  • Coachella Valley

    • Covers the desert region including Palm Springs and surrounding areas.

  • Foothill Citrus

    • Encompasses areas in and around Pasadena, Pomona, and Glendora.

  • Inland

    • Serves the Inland Empire, including Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

  • Long Beach

    • Covers the Long Beach area and surrounding communities.

  • Mojave Desert

    • Includes the high desert regions such as Barstow and Victorville.

  • Orange County

    • Encompasses all cities within Orange County.

  • San Fernando Valley

    • Covers the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas.

  • San Gabriel Valley

    • Includes areas such as Alhambra, El Monte, and Covina.

  • South Bay

    • Covers the South Bay region including Torrance and Redondo Beach.

Steps to Become a Referee

  1. Choose Your Unit: Select the unit that corresponds to your location.

  2. Register: Complete the online registration form for your chosen unit.

  3. Attend Training: Participate in mandatory training sessions provided by your unit.

  4. Certification: Pass the required exams and obtain your certification.

  5. Start Officiating: Begin officiating games and gaining valuable experience.
